If you are like most women who are currently enrolled in Chandler Boot Camp. then you've been working hard all year long to stay healthy and active by exercising, eating right, and getting enough sleep. However when December rolls around, it always seems to be a bit of a struggle to keep up the effort to maintain a healthy fitness and nutrition plan. By the time New Years comes around, you pick up and start over. Does that sound familiar?
The holiday season of 'eating' is supposed to be fun but how can you avoid gaining weight during the busiest time of the year with holiday parties around every corner? Here are some simple things to keep in mind to help you maintain a sense of balance.
- The enemy: Hunger! - People who are really hungry don't make good choices and lack self control. If you are planning on skipping breakfast or lunch to save up calories, those tasty treats will look even better then you thought possible. Do not, I repeat, do not skip meals rather fill your meals with satisfying foods like lots of protein, veggies, and whole grains.
- Fill a plate don't stand and munch! - Sit down to eat rather than stand and graze in the buffet line. Fill up on the healthy stuff first and make sure you stop eating when you are satisfied.
- Cut down on alcohol - which is high in calories and non-nutritious, it also leads to mindful eating. If you do consume alcohol, make sure you drink a glass of water for every alcoholic drink you have.
- Keep up you workouts! - This is definitely NOT the time to miss out on your workouts, especially in Chandler boot camp. Even a 25 minute workout is better than nothing and will help to keep your metabolism elevated. This will help to burn calories and at least keep you in maintenance mode. Exercise also helps to alleviate stress that often accompanies us during the holiday season.
You might have more parties to attend than usual, but you most likely have many more days that are more normal in your daily routine. Don't get caught up in the holidays and use that as an excuse to ditch healthy eating altogether or ditch your scheduled session of Chandler boot camp. Just because the food is there, doesn't mean you have to eat it as if you'll never eat again. Remember to be mindful of what your choices are and always go for the healthier options first. Tis' the season to enjoy, but don't over indulge to the point of gaining unwanted weight.
